ABUJA, Nigeria — The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Dr. George Moghalu, has commiserated with the vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, over the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
Moghalu, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in last year’s Anambra off-cycle election, noted in a statement he personally signed that he received the news of her passage with deep sadness.
The former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress further noted that while her passing marks the end of a long, purposeful, and fulfilled life, it also signals the departure of a revered matriarch whose enduring legacy of faith, love, and selfless service will continue to inspire generations. He further described her as a cherished matriarch whose life was defined by unwavering faith, humility, sacrifice, and compassion.
Dr. Moghalu also recalled that “she held her family together in love, peace, and unity, while serving as a respected community women leader and devoted Christian whose trust in God remained steadfast throughout her lifetime.”
“Deeply loved and highly respected within and beyond her community, she will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for others. Her exemplary life leaves behind a rich legacy of integrity, service, and enduring values that will continue to inspire generations,” the statement read.
Reflecting further on her passing, Dr. Moghalu noted: “Although death is an inevitable part of life, the loss of a beloved mother leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her children and loved ones.” He urged Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and the entire Amaechi family “to draw strength from the remarkable life she lived, the values she upheld, and the lasting impact she made on her family, community, and society.”
While stressing that the memories of her noble life and enduring virtues would remain a source of comfort and inspiration for generations to come, he added: “On behalf of my family, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, and all who mourn the passing of this remarkable woman.”
“I pray that Almighty God grants you strength, comfort, and the grace to cherish the beautiful memories of a life well lived. May the gentle soul of Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi rest in perfect peace, and may perpetual light shine upon her,” the statement read.
