Telecommunications company MTN says it has fixed the recent network outages that disrupted services in Lagos, Oyo, Rivers and Delta states, and in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The MTN network outages left many subscribers cut off for about two days.

The company said in a notice at the weekend that connectivity has been restored.

MTN apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience and blamed the downtime on technical faults that have now been fixed.

“Some of us experienced a service disruption that affected our ability to stay connected,” the notice read. “We know how important it is to stay in touch with people, businesses, and moments that matter most.”

It added, “While our teams worked tirelessly to restore service as quickly as possible, we sincerely wish this disruption had not happened.”

MTN’s Chief Customer Relations and Experience Officer, Ugonma Nwoye, signed the notice. “Your trust means everything to us, and we remain committed to providing the reliable connection you deserve,” it said. The company also promised to strengthen its infrastructure to prevent a repeat.

For about two days, millions of subscribers in major commercial centres struggled with persistent service problems. Lagos suffered the most.

The blackouts also crippled voice calls, mobile data and digital financial transactions in Oyo, Rivers, Delta and the FCT.

In an earlier notice, MTN said it had sent engineers to the affected sites. According to the Nigerian Communications Commission, the company had 100.5 million subscribers in Nigeria as of July 2026.

However, the firm advised customers who still face problems to restart their devices so they can reconnect.
