Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

She expressed confidence that his administration will translate ongoing economic reforms into greater prosperity if given a second term.

Senator Oluremi gave the assurance on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, during the grand rally organised by the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network in support of President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.

According to a statement issued by her spokesman, Busola Kukoyi, the rally attracted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across the North-Central region.

Key party figures at the event included the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda; Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; and other governors from the region.

Mrs Tinubu said the President’s Independence Day address, delivered on October 1 and titled “From Reforms to Prosperity,” reflected the administration’s intention to move beyond economic reforms towards delivering improved living conditions for Nigerians.

“The Independence Day message of Mr President was titled ‘From Reforms to Prosperity.’ Therefore, Mr President is saying that they are going to reform the sector, but now is the time for prosperity, and we can see our economy is stabilising,” she said.

She pointed to developments in the foreign exchange market and renewed interest from investors as indications that the economy was stabilising.

“Foreign exchange is going down, and investors are coming back to Nigeria.”

The First Lady also commended state governments for their infrastructure projects, noting that improved agricultural production remained important to the country’s economic recovery.

“Our farmers too, you can see all our governors here, they are doing infrastructural development like no other time before,” she added.

On the administration’s social welfare interventions, Mrs Tinubu said efforts were being made to address malnutrition and improve access to nutritious food, particularly for vulnerable children and pregnant and breastfeeding women.

She disclosed that a food bank programme had recently been completed as part of measures to support affected groups.

“As you see now, we have just finished the food bank programme, where we are helping every child and mothers who are pregnant and also breastfeeding.

“This is to ensure that they can have more nutritious food, and also the children that are malnourished can get treatment and also get food to grow healthy,” she said.

She further maintained that the government was providing adequate funding to support young people pursuing their education.

Mrs Tinubu called on APC members to communicate the administration’s achievements and reform agenda to Nigerians in their respective states, describing the President as a leader prepared to take difficult decisions.

“As we all go back to our various states, tell everyone that Mr President Bola Tinubu is a leader who is very bold.

“He will not stop by being at home to take difficult decisions. He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us into prosperity,” she said.

She expressed optimism that a second term for Tinubu and Shettima would bring further improvements to the country, urging party supporters to campaign for continuity in government.

The First Lady said the administration would “build a stronger economy, safer communities and a greater Nigeria.”

She subsequently appealed to voters to support the President and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

“Therefore, vote for continuity, vote for capacity, vote for prosperity, vote for the re-election of Mr President and all the candidates of the APC from top to bottom,” she said.

Other speakers at the rally also called on Nigerians to vote for Tinubu and APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections, according to the statement.

The presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027.
