*Muslim Pilgrims’ Board Member Lands In Police Net, Others Flee

A member of the Akwa Ibom State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Mohammed Albashir Jacobs, has been nabbed by officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for defrauding intended Hajj Pilgrims of monies amounting millions of naira.

Information has it that the three man syndicate comprising of Alhaji Albashir, Otobong Abdulrasheed Asuquo, who is the purported board chairman and Mustapha Gramma have been operating an account at First Bank where unsuspecting muslims are made to deposit huge sums of monies as registration levy for pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

Further investigations reveal that twenty nine Muslims have so far fallen victim to the ‘board members’.

Akwa Ibom State did not take part in this year’s Hajj as the “board” failed to remit the millions paid into their coffers to the National Hajj Commission.
