Muslim-Muslim ticket: More trouble for Tinubu as APC stalwart, Daniel Buala, resigns
A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a popular lawyer and one of the leaders and national voice in the party, Dr. Daniel Buala, has just resigned his membership of APC to protest the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Mr. Buala is from north Nigeria, who felt that northern Christians have been slighted by the Muslim-Muslim ticket adopted by the party and the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
It could be recalled that News Band had, on Sunday, reported that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate for the 2023 elections confirmed Senator Kashim Ibrahim Shettima as his running mate.

Former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima
Tinubu made the disclosure during his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, after Alhaji Ibrahim Masari stepped down as his running mate in the forthcoming presidential election.
In his choice of Shettima as his running mate, Tinubu, in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Communication of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, extolled the many virtues of the former Borno governor.
He said, amongst other things, that the 56 year old Shettima ran his government on a similar template he used in Lagos.
“Despite the Book Haram insurgency, he was able to build world class schools, housing and he also tapped on Human Resources outside his state,” he noted.
The choice of a Muslim as a vice presidential candidate after eight years of rule by President Buhari, a core northern Muslim, however, did not go down well with northern Christians.
This has led to a mass exodus from the party by the said Christians, and in the latest incidence Daniel Buala.

Reacting to the Muslim-Muslim ticket saga and the mass exodus from the party by Christians, a political analyst, Mr. Eneh Victor Chigozie, observed:
“Whoever convinced Tinubu to concede to Muslim-Muslim ticket at this time and life of the nation tactically edged him out of the race for 2023 presidential contest.
“Some northern Christians leaders in APC that have been insulted by this Muslim-Muslim ticket are already resigning from the party.
“The 2023 presidential election will definitely be a surprise to many. There is anger in every section and every group in the country.
“Tinubu was deceived. He will understand this on February 25, 2023.”
In the meantime, the fortunes of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi has soared after he chose Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate.
