The Chief Whip of the Senate, Ali Ndume, has given reasons why the lawmakers settled for foreign made vehicles instead of locally made ones.
While speaking on Friday when he appeared on Arise Television Morning Show, Senator Ndume who represents Borno South in the red chamber, said most of the made-in-Nigeria vehicles were only assembled in the country.
He said this when he was asked why the National Assembly refused to patronize a local manufacturer like Innoson Motors.
Particularly, he said Innoson Motors doesn’t produce cars rather what they do is assembling.
He said, “The reason why we did not choose Nigerian-made cars is because they don’t manufacture their vehicles, but they assemble them.
“I prefer Nigerian-made products, but the Nigerian car companies are only buying the vehicle parts and assembling them here.”
