The administration of Governor Alex Otti has been called out after Tracka, a public expenditure tracking platform, exposed loopholes in the Ogwumabiri Road project funded with N34.7 million.

The road project which was initially listed as a 5km road in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, was actually a 500-meter stretch constructed in Ugwamabiri, a village in the Obinolu community.

Tracka in its official X handle, though acknowledged the fact that the road was completed and asphalted in 2023 but it has started deteriorating already.

“Despite the large sum allocated, the road is showing signs of poor quality and premature damage,” Tracka stated.

Meanwhile, the platform has called on the Nigeria Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) to provide a holistic report on the project and to ensure the contractor returns to address the substandard work.

“However, we observed that the road was already washing off at the time of our visit”, Tracka added.
