NAF bombs illegal refineries in Rivers, as troops arrest terrorists

Air Force says it destroyed some illegal oil refineries & barges filled with petroleum products in Niger Delta, just as troops arrested terrorists

The Nigerian Air Force [NAF] says it has destroyed some illegal oil refineries and barges filled with petroleum products in the Niger Delta.

The Air Force disclosed this in a statement released on October 3, signed by its Director of Public Relations Information, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa

Captain Famuyiwa said the military action is part of its efforts to stop illegal bunkering and criminal activities in the oil rich Niger Delta region.

According to the statement, the illegal refineries and barges were sighted by NAF Diamond 42 aircraft which was on an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission in Bille Community of Rivers State.

A Mi-24V helicopter gunship was subsequently called-in for aerial attacks.

It added that a similar operation was carried out on October 1 in the same area.

TROOPS INTERCEPTS KIDNAPPERS IN BAUCHI STATE

In another event, yesterday at about 1.30pm, troops of 33 Brigade Nigerian Army deployed at Forward Operation Base (FOB) Ningi, on routine patrol, came across suspected kidnappers at Dutsen Makurdi, Ningi Local Government Area.

The development was made known to newsmen by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman.

The suspected kidnappers opened fire on the troops that led to exchange of gunfire between both at the end which 5 kidnappers were killed.

The patrol team recovered 3 Dane guns and other dangerous weapons from the suspects.

TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS

In yet another development, yesterday afternoon, a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Adamu Nuhu was arrested at Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area, Southern Borno State following a tip off by well-meaning Nigerians.

According to the Acting Director Army Public Relations, he is currently being interrogated.

Similarly, at about 5.43pm yesterday 3 women suspected to be spouses of wanted Boko Haram terrorists and logistics suppliers were arrested at Miringa market by vigilante members in the town.

They however, handed them to troops and they also being investigated.
