Nambra 2017: Obiano, Ezeemo Clash At Awards Night
The Nzukora Old Aguata Union, a central body comprising all the communities within the Orumba North, Orumba South and Aguata council areas of Anambra state has called on Gov Willie Obiano to come to their rescue from the constant threat of erosion menace.
Chief Ebere Udo, who is the chairman and leader of the body, who spoke Sunday at a cultural festival they organized in Onitsha, lamented that the entire Aguata area have been constantly under the threat of erosion, which has forced some into exile, some have become refugees in their own villages. While they have never slept any day with their two eyes closed.
While throwing full weight behind Gov Obiano’s administration, especially his reelection bid, they pointed out that he has done a lot in the area of security, agriculture among others.
Meanwhile the leader and gubernatorial aspirant of the People’s Progressive Alliance (PPA) in the state, Mr Godwin Ezeemo who was given an award at the ocassion and a major sponsor of the event described the much publicized endorsement of Gov Obiano for a second term in office by the people of Old Aguata Union as a political scam.
Ezeemo said the so called endorsement by some people loyal to All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) does not reflect the aspiration of people of the area.
The industrialists who got an award of excellence in service to humanity also faulted Obiano’s security feat, noting that the current security measures in Anambra State was a smokescreen because of high rate of unemployment in the state.
According to him, Anambra needs permanent security measures which will guarantee jobs for the people particularly youths who are rooming the streets without hope for jobs in near future.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jesophat Akabuike, who represented the Governor who also received an award said they were not in doubt of the endorsement of Obiano by the Old Aguata Ubion for second term in office.
He said Governor Obiano has a blue print for developing Anambra State which has brought security to the state, increased the State rice production to 280,000 metric tonnes and introduction of Universal Insurance Scheme, which will be launched in the state very soon.
He commended the group for their commitment to revive Igbo culture, which he said was very important because, if you “don/t take care of your own it will get lost”, describing Igbo race as special in the world.
