Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru has sparked fresh speculation about her marriage to Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, after introducing herself without her husband’s surname during a legislative session.
The lawmaker, who represents Egor Constituency and serves as the Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, identified herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” while addressing colleagues during plenary on Tuesday.
Her nameplate also displayed the Osawaru surname without Idibia, drawing attention amid ongoing public interest in her relationship with the singer.
A video of the proceedings shared on her Instagram page showed Natasha speaking in support of a bill seeking to strengthen emergency response in Edo State. She highlighted the need for a legally backed state agency capable of responding proactively to emergencies, including flooding, erosion, fire outbreaks and building collapses.
The development has fuelled speculation about a possible change in her marital circumstances, particularly because she previously acknowledged the Idibia name during an earlier legislative appearance.
In April 2025, Natasha reportedly introduced herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osaworu, née Idibia” before delivering her remarks at the Assembly.
Her latest introduction has therefore prompted questions about why she chose to use only Osawaru this time.
The renewed speculation also follows reports of tension between the couple in recent months. In August, a video circulated online that appeared to show Natasha and 2Baba in a heated exchange at an Abuja nightclub.
Natasha subsequently told Pulse Nigeria that she and the singer were experiencing a marital crisis, while insisting that they were fine and dismissing claims that they had separated.
More recently, reports indicated that Natasha was absent from 2Baba’s 51st birthday celebration and album listening party in Lagos. The singer and the lawmaker were also reported to have stopped following each other on Instagram, further fuelling online discussions about their relationship.
Natasha and 2Baba reportedly held a private traditional wedding in July 2025 after their relationship became public earlier that year. Their union has attracted considerable attention because it followed the singer’s separation from actress Annie Macaulay Idibia.
Despite the latest development, neither Natasha nor 2Baba has publicly confirmed that their marriage has ended.
For now, her decision to identify herself by her own surname has raised questions but does not independently establish that she has dumped the singer or formally changed her marital status.
Whether the move signals a personal decision, a professional preference or a deeper development in the relationship remains unclear.
