NDA cadets make history at Royal Marines Commando Training Centre, UK

The Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, said two of its cadets made history at the Commando Training Centre, Royal Marines, United Kingdom.
Its Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Maidawa, who said this in a statement issued on Saturday in Kaduna, said that the two cadets graduated from the centre on Friday.
Mr Maidawa, a major, said, “NDA has achieved a remarkable milestone as two of its cadets, 2nd Lt. Titus Eze and 2nd Lt. Isa Suleiman, successfully completed the prestigious Commando Training Centre Royal Marines programme in Lympstone, UK.
“This achievement marked a significant first for the Nigerian Army (NA), as these officers are the first to successfully complete this rigorous training programme.”
He said that the Commandant of the NDA, John Ochai, attended the passing out parade, where the cadets were granted commission into the Nigerian Army.
Mr Ochai, a major-general, was quoted as saying that this accomplishment was a testament to the exceptional training and dedication of the NDA cadets, as well as the institution’s commitment to excellence.”
According to him, the centre is renowned for its challenging and demanding training programmes, which ‘push candidates to their limits.
“The fact that the duo have successfully completed this training is a remarkable achievement, demonstrating their exceptional physical and mental toughness.
“As pioneers, these two officers will play a crucial role in building the capacity of the Nigerian Armed Forces in special and joint operations.
“Their successful completion of the programme will undoubtedly inspire future generations of NDA cadets and contribute to the enhancement of Nigeria’s defence capabilities,” Mr Ochai said.
Mr Maidawa said the NDA commandant interacted with the Commandant of the Centre, Col. GA Atherton, as well as the Commander General of the Royal Marines, Gen. Gwyn Jenkins.
The event was also attended by Brig..-Gen. MHB Manu, the Nigerian Defence Adviser in the UK, Brig.-Gen. OA Awolo, Director, Military Training at NDA, and Lt.-Col. LM Yahaya, the Commanding Officer of the Mogadishu Battalion.
The families of the two newly commissioned officers were also present to celebrate the momentous occasion.
“This achievement is a testament to the NDA’s commitment to producing highly trained and skilled officers, capable of excelling in the most demanding environments.
“As the NDA continues to uphold its motto of “Loyalty and Valour,” it is clear that the future of Nigeria’s defence is in capable hands,” Mr Maidawa said.
