The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has officially launched its Youth Internship Scheme, with the portal http://nyis.nddc.gov.ng/ now open for registration.

The scheme, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aims to provide skills training for 10,000 youths from the Niger Delta region, with a monthly stipend of 50,000 Naira for 12 months to support their living expenses during the training period.

Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, Akwa Ibom State Representative on the Governing Board of NDDC, has urged Akwa Ibom youths to take advantage of the opportunity. “I encourage all eligible Akwa Ibom youths to register for the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme. This is a great chance to acquire skills to enhance your employability, and contribute to the progress of the Niger Delta region,” he said.

The scheme was officially launched on Monday, August 5, 2024, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Registration closes on August 31, 2024.

The Scheme is designed to address the high levels of youth unemployment in the Niger Delta region, by providing training and skills development opportunities in various fields.

To be eligible, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 45, and must have a minimum of SSCE or its equivalent.

The Scheme is not restricted to any political party.

Applicants must also hail from Akwa Ibom State or other Niger Delta State.
