Recently, Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State commissioned the Enugu Ukwu sub power station.
The commissioning was heavily advertised in newspapers and other media houses as a major project by Obiano and as part of steps towards providing power for the people of the state.
Many people congratulated him on the efforts.
In many of the publications of the State Government, they included the picture of the project as among his achievements.
The book recently written on him celebrated the project as one of Akpokue’s achievements.
While all these were going on, some people shouted that the project was not that of Obiano in any way.
They went on to list about 19 projects already completed by Mr. Peter Obi which he came to recommission.
Sometimes, he removed existing plaque and placed new ones claiming to be the architect of the projects.
His internet E-rats dismissed these as the cry of people envious of Obiano’s achievements.
Many months after this, an Anambra man working in the NDPHC wrote this to me in confidence:
Odera,
I am from Anambra State and I work with the Niger Delta Power Holding company.
Every day, people from Anambra are subjected to jest because of the character of our Gov. Willie Obiano.
People laugh at him as a drunk. He has added stealing of other people’s project to his failings.
He recently commissioned a power project being built by my company in Enugu-Ukwu.
It was disheartening that our company had to call management meeting over what Obiano did. He made us laughing stock among people from other states.
The attached letter is a query over the matter, which was copied to him. Almost everybody in our office has a copy of this letter because of its “jest value”
Though the query was not directed at him because of his high position, but know that our company merely used the contractor and copied to him as respect.

What do we do with a man like Obiano who has succeeded in putting our state in bad light?
Mazi Odera
