NEMA donates 9 trucks of relief materials to returnee refugees
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has handed over nine trucks of assorted relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons [IDPs].
The materials were meant for the returnee communities affected by Boko Haram attacks in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Alhaji Sani Sidi, the Director General of the agency presented the items in Hong town, the headquarters of Hong LGA.
He said that the donation was to bring succor to the returnees IDPs verified in the area.
Sidi said that the huge relief materials donated to the communities was through the commitment of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Babachir Lawan.
Sidi, who was represented by Mr. Saad Bello, Adamawa Coordinator of the agency said that the donation was the second of its kind in the state.
“The first phase of the similar donation was in Mubi and the agency has concluded arrangement to reach Maiha, Michika and Madagali local government areas for similar donation,” Sidi said.
He appealed to the local government authority and the distribution committee to do justice while distributing the materials.
In his remark shortly after receiving the materials on behalf of the IDPs, Alhaji Hamidu Misi, the Head of Service of the area thanked NEMA and Secretary to the Government of the Federation for the gesture.
Misi advised the people of the area to always be security conscious and report any suspicious character to the nearest security post.
Pa Cletus Hong, the Chairman Distribution committee of the relief materials assured that the materials would be judiciously distributed to those meant for.
