Nigeria Eliminated From 2020 CHAN Championship Qualifiers

Home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria have been eliminated from the 2020 African Nations Championship [CHAN] qualifiers after a 2-0 win over Togo.

The championship will be held in Cameroon next year.

Togo edged out Nigeria in a 3-4 aggregate haven won the first leg encounter 4-1.

Sikiru Alimi’s brace in the eighth and seventy-second minutes could not save the Eagles from elimination being one goal behind in aggregates.

Togo Sparrow Hawks are through to next year’s CHAN haven secured a spot for the final tournament in Cameroon.

This will be their very first appearance.

Meanwhile, Sikiru has now scored three goals in each of the last three matches for the Super Eagles.

His goals account for 75% of all the goals scored by the home based Super Eagles in 2019 and 100% of goals scored in the last three matches.
