US Ambassador To Nigeria Accused Three Lawmakers Of Attempted Rape And Soliciting For Prostitutes In The United States:
According to New Telegraph, US ambassador to Nigeria, Mr James Entwistle, has accused three members of the Federal House of Representatives, (MHR) of attempted rape and soliciting for prostitutes while visiting the states on an official assignment in April 2016.
In a petition dated June 9th and addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Entwistle alleged that three lawmakers from Bauchi, Akwa Ibom and Benue state, during their visit to the United states for the International Visitor Leadership Program in Cleveland, Ohio lodged at Cleveland hotel. Two of the lawmakers it was gathered asked the hotel’s parking lot attendants for links to prostitutes who will spend the night with them while one of them allegedly grabbed a housekeeper in the hotel room, demanding for sex.

According to the petition, the housekeeper and parking lot attendants reported to the hotel management who filed a complaint at the US Mission. The petition was investigated and the report forwarded to the US Ambassador to Nigeria who brought the case to the attention of Mr Speaker.
The Ambassador, in a letter dated June 9, 2016, addressed to Speaker Dogara, exclusively obtained by New Telegraph, alleged that three members of the House namely: Hon. Mohammed Garba Gololo (APC, Bauchi), Hon. Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom) and Hon. Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue) had, on a recent visit to the United States for the International Visitor Leadership Program, brought disrepute to the parliament by soliciting for sex from prostitutes and grabbing hotel housekeeper in a bid to rape.
The accused lawmakers however denied the allegations, saying that it was a calculated attempt to ridicule the National Assembly. According to the lawmakers, the allegations against them was made a month after they had left the US. They wonder why they were not questioned while they were still in America during the course of their assignment and argued that no video footage was provided by the hotel management to back up the claims.
The affected lawmakers have written to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, calling for a full scaled investigation into the allegations.
