Police investigates the death of a beggar in Niger State

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in Nigeria has approved the promotion of 27 senior police officers to higher ranks.

The promotions, which were announced on Monday, include 11 Commissioners of Police who were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs).

The newly promoted AIGs include Umar Shehu Nadada, Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State; Mustapha Mohammed Bala, Commissioner of Police, Rivers State; Abayomi Peter Oladipo, Commissioner of Police, Ondo State; and Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke, Commissioner of Police, SWAT, FCID, Abuja.

Other officers promoted to the rank of AIG include Ibrahim Abdullahi, mni, Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State; Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, Commissioner of Police, PPP, DLS, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, mni, Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State; and Zubairu Abubakar, Commissioner of Police, Courses, Police Staff College, Jos.

In addition, 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Those promoted to the rank of CP include Kayode Ojapinwa, DC, SCID, FCT; Emmanual Ighodalo, DC, ZCID, Zone 8, Lokoja; Bose Funmi Akinyemi, DC, SEB, FCID Annex, Lagos; and Barayimil Ahmadu Samaila, DC, DFA, Kogi State.

Other officers promoted to the rank of CP include Martin Nwogoh, fdc, DC, DFA, Zone 2, Lagos; Shetima Jauro Mohammed, DC, SCID, Nasarawa State; Ibrahim Gotan, DC, DFA, Zone 2, Bauchi; and Rabiu Mohammed, DC, Ops, Zone 3, Yola.

The promotions were approved by the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), after the officers underwent both written and oral examinations.

DIG Argungu emphasized that both written and oral examinations would henceforth be a prerequisite for promotion in all cadres of the Nigeria Police Force.

He also advised the newly promoted officers to pay attention to the dictates of their new office and give their best in the service.

“The Commission will continue to ensure that promotions are timely and based on merit,” DIG Argungu added.

The promotions are expected to take immediate effect, and the officers are expected to resume their new duties soon.
