Nigeria recorded improved economy, security under my govt — Buhari

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, said that security and economy improved significantly in Nigeria during his eight year administration.

Mr. Buhari said this when he received members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Daura.

While reflecting on his term in office, Buhari said he inherited a bad economy and security challenges from the PDP, which was in government for 16 years.

Mr Buhari, however, noted that his government’s strategies successfully tackled these challenges, curbing terrorism and economic hardship.

“Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” he said.

Moreover, while acknowledging the challenges in governing a complex country like Nigeria, the former president noted that only those in positions of power truly understand the administrative obstacles.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, commended Mr Buhari for some of his achievements in office, including tackling terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges.
