(DDM) – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has officially announced the commencement of its 2025 Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) recruitment exercise, opening the door for qualified graduates to serve in one of the country’s elite military arms.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the recruitment process begins on August 27, 2025, and will run until October 7, 2025, giving interested applicants over a month to submit their applications.
According to the statement released by the Air Force, prospective candidates must possess a Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Second Class Upper or Upper Credit, alongside a valid NYSC Discharge Certificate.
Applicants must also be 32 years of age or younger to be eligible for the programme.
The NAF explained that the DSSC offers a unique opportunity for graduates across different professional fields to serve the nation, contribute to national security, and undergo advanced military training.
Past recruitment exercises have seen professionals from engineering, medicine, law, aviation, and ICT take up critical roles within the service.
Military analysts note that the DSSC remains one of the most competitive recruitment programmes in the country, drawing thousands of applications annually due to its prestige, structured career growth, and exposure to advanced aviation technology.
The Air Force has also emphasized transparency and fairness in the selection process, warning applicants to avoid middlemen and fraudulent agents.
The official application portal has been provided as naftecruitment.airforce.mil.ng, with the service reiterating that it does not charge fees for the recruitment process.
Established in 1964, the Nigerian Air Force is renowned for its role in internal security, counter-terrorism operations, and humanitarian missions, including aerial surveillance and disaster response.
The DSSC programme continues to strengthen its manpower base with skilled professionals to meet the demands of modern air operations and national defence strategy.
Security experts say this recruitment comes at a critical time when Nigeria faces diverse security challenges, ranging from insurgency to cross-border threats.
Observers believe that integrating highly trained professionals into the Air Force will not only boost operational efficiency but also reinforce public confidence in the service’s commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty.
