Nigerian Man Kills Father, Stabs Sisters in US

27-year-old Nigerian man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been arrested in New Orleans after allegedly stabbing his father to death and injuring his two sisters during a violent domestic attack. The incident happened on Pebble Street on November 11.

Family members confirmed that the victim, Samuel Eweni, was a computer science professor at Southern University at New Orleans. His daughters, who survived the attack, were also stabbed during the incident.

Relatives described the tragedy as shocking and said the suspect had a history of mental illness. They noted that he had never been known to behave violently before.

Local outlet WWL Louisiana reported that one of the sisters has been discharged from the hospital. The other remains admitted but is expected to recover fully.

The New Orleans Police Department said in a statement that officers found Chukwuebuka Eweni in Jefferson Parish. He was taken into custody and is undergoing medical evaluation at a local facility.

According to the police, detectives responded to a distress call about “an aggravated battery by cutting” believed to be domestic. Officers arrived to find an unresponsive adult male with fatal stab wounds inside the home. They also found two adult female victims with stab injuries.

The surviving victims received immediate medical care and were taken to a nearby hospital.

NOPD detectives said their investigation identified Eweni as the suspect. An arrest warrant has been issued for one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. Police warned that he was considered armed and dangerous before his arrest.

Authorities said the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the official cause of death after completing an autopsy and notifying next of kin.
