Clubs and other affiliated bodies that fail to adhere to stringent regulations governing football administration, particularly in organized tournaments in Kwara State, will now be subject to sanctions, as per a recent circular issued by the Kwara State Football Association (KWSFA) on Saturday.

In a memorandum signed by Mohammed Kashim Agaka, the secretary of the organization, a document viewed by select members of the media in Ilorin, stipulates that penalties such as the complete annulment of the competition, suspension, revocation of organizational licenses/rights, or the imposition of fines will be enforced against violating entities.

“All affiliates, organizations, clubs, private sectors, and government agencies are prohibited from hosting football competitions within Kwara State without the explicit consent and approval of the Kwara State Football Association.

“Any competition organized without our endorsement will be deemed null and void,” Agaka articulated in the communication distributed to pertinent entities such as the Department of State Services (DSS), Kwara State Sports Commission (KSC), Kwara State Police Command, Secretary to the State Government of Kwara State, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, and the General Secretary of the NFF.

The KWSFA emphasized the necessity of issuing a stern warning following numerous instances of blatant disregard for the regulations, particularly among key stakeholders in the state’s football community.

“The objective is to ensure adherence to the rules and regulations of the Kwara State Football Association, as well as national/international football guidelines, and to uphold the standards and quality of competitions in the state; safeguarding the interests of players, officials, and stakeholders,” Agaka further elaborated.
