On February 20, 2025, troops launched a fighting patrol targeting Sani Black’s hideout in Tungar Fulani.
Intelligence reports from Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency expert, confirmed the operation’s focus on neutralizing the terrorist enclave.
The troops encountered no resistance during the raid, as the bandits had already fled deep into the forest.
This proactive operation underscores the military’s commitment to eradicating banditry and ensuring safety in Zamfara State.
The absence of confrontation allowed soldiers to secure the area and recover critical items left behind by the fleeing insurgents.
Following the success in Tungar Fulani, the troops advanced to Gidan Baye Auta, another location known to harbor terrorist elements.
Upon arrival, the soldiers came under fire from bandits attempting to defend their positions.
A swift and decisive response by the troops led to the neutralization of one terrorist while others escaped on motorcycles. A motorcycle belonging to the neutralized bandit was recovered as troops successfully secured the area.
Later that evening, at approximately 1800 hours, actionable intelligence directed troops to Kalage Village, where they uncovered a food supply cache linked to the notorious terrorist kingpin Kachallah Gidado.
The troops seized 10 bags of sorghum, a crucial food resource for the insurgents. This discovery dealt a significant blow to the terrorists’ supply chain and logistical capabilities.
The Nigerian military has sustained its offensive against terrorist enclaves in Zamfara State and the broader Northwest region.
These operations have resulted in the elimination of numerous bandits and the destruction of their hideouts.
Military authorities have called on local communities to cooperate with security forces by reporting suspicious activities and providing information that could aid ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks.
Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), commended the troops for their commitment and sacrifices in safeguarding Nigeria’s defense and security.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining pressure on terrorist elements and urged troops to continue employing ingenuity in their operations.
“The Nigerian Army, in synergy with sister services and other security agencies, has continued to apply pressure on terrorist elements.
