Nigerian troops repel terrorist attacks in Katsina State; secure surrender of Senior Commander

Under Operation FANSAN YANMA, Nigerian troops repelled multiple terrorist attacks through coordinated efforts.

Forcing insurgents to retreat, they secured a high-ranking commander’s surrender in Katsina State, marking a critical victory.

The developments mark significant progress in the ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the region.

When troops intercepted heavily armed terrorists attempting  attacks on Unguwan Baki village in Faskari Local Government Area, chaos erupted.

Swiftly responding, Nigerian forces overpowered the militants with precise firepower and strategic maneuvers.

Forced to retreat, the terrorists abandoned motorcycles and fled into nearby forests, thwarting their planned assault.

Consequently, calm returned as troops secured the area, preventing further threats to the community.

Meanwhile, in a critical breakthrough in Jibia Local Government Area, a senior terrorist commander voluntarily surrendered to the military.

In a significant gesture of his commitment to renouncing violence, the commander handed over two AK-47 rifles and facilitated the release of 10 captives.

Among those freed were seven women and three children, who had been held hostage by the insurgents.

Security sources have described the surrender as a pivotal moment in efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the region.

Military officials have emphasized that such developments underscore the growing pressure on militant groups as a result of sustained counterterrorism operations.
