Nigerians at streets of London shower love on Peter Obi

Nigerians from various language and ethnic backgrounds are showing uncommon love to frontline presidential aspirant and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, on the streets of London regardless of tribe or ethnicity during his visit to the United kingdom.

Following his visit to 10 Downing street this afternoon and as he was coming out, a man shouted “Peter!”

Mr Obi stopped, turned back and went to greet them.

The man and his wife said “Sir, I’m a Yoruba man but we need someone to salvage the country. I’m rooting for you, sir. God will bless you with success”.

Earlier, as Peter Obi was arriving at Heathrow airport, a Nigerian taxi driver, Antony Erhunmwunse, evidently from Edo State judging from the surname, picked up His Excellency while he was waiting for a Taxi in London.

He drove him free of charge to No. 10 Downing Street, the British seat of power, where he went on the invitation of the British Prime minister.

Reacting to the uncommon love, an observer asked on social media: “If you are a taxi driver, can you drive any of the other aspirants for free?”

He added: “Nigeria must not miss this opportunity. A new Nigeria is possible with Peter Obi.”

In another interesting development, a tourist from the United States to United Kingdom, told him:

“I am from LA, but I have not travelled to Nigeria in a while because the news we are hearing is very scary.

“Please fix the country for us to come back.”

Meanwhile, the presidential aspirant, on Monday, paid a visit to the United Kingdom Prime Minister’s Office at 10 Downing Street in London.

During the visit, he met several other top government personnel as he discussed matters affecting Africa and the Commonwealth, especially economic matters.

Following his arrival in London on Monday, he has continued consultations with party stakeholders as well as with well meaning Nigerians.
