The Speaker of the Masses Assembly, Rt. Hon. Okolo Hessington Chimennma has blasted loquacious prominent Ijaw leader and convener of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark over his call for the arrest of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Chief Clark recently called on security operatives to arrest the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB] for his agitations for a sovereign state of Biafra.

Clark, reacting to Nnamdi Kanu’s threat to disrupt the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election slated for November 18, 2017, said:

“There is nowhere that youths will take over the administration of a place and it is very irresponsible for Kanu to say there will be no election in Anambra State in November.

“He should be arrested and detained.

“There is a limit to their agitation and I am happy that the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo has condemned them.”

In his own reaction, Hon. Okolo asked: “Edwin Clarke: Who Send Am?” in a statement obtained by Elombah.com.

He went on to elaborate why Chief Clark has no moral justification to antagonise Nnamdi Kanu as follows:

“Let me state categorically and emphatically as a bona-fide Niger Deltan of the Ukwuani stock that EK Clarke doesn’t have my mandate to call for the arrest of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“I have a lot of respect for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and for what he has been able to achieve with IPOB which the likes of EK Clarke has failed to even contemplate.

“People whose only god is their belle can’t speak for me.

“They have been representing Niger Delta for eons without any achievement to show for it but their big cars, houses in choice areas and private universities while the whole of the Niger Delta still wallow in abject poverty and environmental degradation and the personalization of our resources can’t claim to speak for me.

“Anybody who cannot look this evil government in the face and demand as an irreducible minimum the political and economic restructuring cannot speak for me.

“Anybody who believes 13% is the best for the long suffering people of the Niger Delta cannot speak for me.

“Any person who cannot defend my right to own, manage and control my God-given resources is not speaking for me.

“Anyone who fails to use his influence and opportunity to push for my freedom from this stifling and restrictive Nigerian Union doesn’t speak for me.

“I sincerely thank Chief [Edwin] Clarke for his efforts but at over 90 I think it’s time to step aside especially since in all these years he claims to have represented us,  we have not witnessed any development in the Niger Delta outside his self-development.

“We cannot continue to do things the same way and expect a different result.

“Nobody should use me to go and negotiate for modular refinery.

“Ishegwalli!” he concluded.

On his part, Nnamdi Kanu replied Edwin Clark:

“I Don’t play the politics of Amnesty, I don’t play the politics of settlement. I play the politics of Freedom”

An observer, Onyebuchukwu Ekwuru‏, replying to Clark, said:

“Edwin Clark is a freeloader at best and elder with d mind of a boy at worse who doesn’t care about his children n unborn generation. Shame!”

Another IPOB member, replying to Clark, said:

“ Edwin Clark is British secret cult (lodge) representative in the contraption called Nigeria… that’s why they can’t talk.”
