Nnamdi Kanu: We don’t intend to change our legal team – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied reports that it is shopping for a senior lawyer to lead the legal team handling the case of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in Abuja court.

Speaking in a statement made available to News.band on Monday, the Media and Publicity Secretary for IPOB, Comrade Emma Powerful  said “nothing can be further from the truth”.

Comrade Powerful said such speculative report are sponsored by IPOB enemies to cause disaffection among the group, hence, ought to be debunked.

He said: ” The said report which is only a figment of the imagination of the peddlers never emanated from us. Such a thing is not in contemplation at all.”

He urged members of the public to disregard such media report as it was planted by our oppressors to cause confusion. It is already dead on arrival!

“IPOB has no issues with our legal team led by Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor. Our legal team has done us proud in all ramifications.

“We still repose confidence in our brilliant legal team which has shown competence, capacity and prowess in all our legal matters.

“It’s only those who are intimidated by the capacity of our legal team that are behind this imaginary speculations.

“For the avoidance of doubt, IPOB has no plan to change Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor or Barrister Aloy Ejimakor and other members of our formidable and erudite legal team.

“We appreciate their efforts and sacrifices towards the fight for Justice for our leader and other detained Biafrans.

“We know the antics of the masterminds of this media propaganda. They simply want to cause bad blood among this global movement but we are ahead of their lame strategy.

“Any day IPOB and its leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU decide to change lawyers handling our matters,  we will make it open. It won’t be disclosed through faceless sources and amorphous individuals,” he stressed.

Lekki massacre report incomplete without Obigbo genocide report

In a separate statement, the scribe said IPOB is watching keenly the Lekki toll gate massacre report, and the reactions trailing it but is utterly shocked that nobody is mentioning the Obigbo massacre which happened about the same period and time last year.

He noted: “We wonder why there is no report on the Obigbo genocide and ethnic cleansing which was sponsored  by Gov. Nyesom Wike but executed by the Nigeria Army, police and other security agencies last.

“Our people must remember Obigbo genocide/ethnic cleansing committed by Gov.Nyesom Wike and his cronies including the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, Navy and Air force against the hated tribe in Nigeria.

“Innocent Igbo youths were killed in cold blood last year by Gov. Nyesom Wike in Obigbo LGA of Rivers State.

“Many dead bodies were thrown into the river by the masterminds of conceal evidence, yet there is no report about this genocide.

“The world must know about  the floating of dead bodies of our people at the rivers in Obigbo and those still missing till date.

“Gov. Wike must come out openly and tell the world why he massacred people living in Obigbo LGA Rivers State.

“Wike must know that IPOB will never relent in the demand for Justice for those he ordered their execution in Obigbo LGA last year.

“The world must know about the killings of Obigbo people and many illegally taken to the secret detentions in all parts of the Northern Nigerian states.

“IPOB has secured release of about 600 innocent citizens taken to Nigeria army security detention facilities across the North and many are still missing till today,” he added.

Emma Powerful reminded the world about testimonies of Obigbo women raped by the Nigerian security agents in various secret detention centres across the Northern Nigerian states that resulted in their early deaths.

“The world must be aware of Obigbo women, men and children that died in the illegal and secret detention centres across Northern Nigeria states,” he concluded.
