Nnamdi Kanu’s Special Counsel Aloy Ejimakor “Recuperating” But Still In Kuje Clinic With Collar Brace

(DDM) – In a development that seems to mix courtroom drama with hospital chronicles, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the fiery Special Counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is reportedly recuperating in the Kuje Prison Clinic after sustaining injuries during the violent re-arrest of Omoyele Sowore by Nigerian police officers.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Ejimakor, known for his spirited defense of human rights, was caught in what eyewitnesses described as a “chaotic storm of batons and boots” at the FCT Magistrate Court.

The police reportedly pounced on Sowore and his supporters, leaving a trail of bruises, broken glasses, and battered egos.

Ejimakor, unfortunately, was not spared. Sources close to him disclosed that the lawyer sustained neck and shoulder injuries, prompting doctors to place him on a neck collar brace while he undergoes treatment.

“He’s stable but still in visible discomfort,” a medical staff member at the Kuje facility whispered to DDM, adding with dry humor, “He’s lucky—this government breaks spirits before bones, but this time they tried both.”

Further findings by DDM revealed that Ejimakor has been under continuous observation for trauma and muscular strain.

His legal team has filed a formal complaint, describing the attack as an “egregious display of state-sponsored thuggery within the temple of justice.”

Family members, who have been allowed limited access, expressed shock over the conditions of his confinement.

“The clinic looks more like a storage room with beds,” one relative said, humorlessly adding, “If Florence Nightingale walked in there, she’d resign immediately.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has remained tight-lipped, neither confirming nor denying the attack, while the Department of State Services (DSS), famous for its silence at inconvenient moments, has also offered no comment.

Human rights groups, including Amnesty International Nigeria, have called for an urgent and independent inquiry into the incident, describing it as yet another sign of Nigeria’s democratic “midlife crisis.”

Ejimakor, who also serves as Nnamdi Kanu’s counsel in the ongoing treason trial, has long been a thorn in the side of state security agencies.

Observers say this latest episode might be part of a larger pattern of intimidation targeting outspoken legal defenders and pro-democracy activists.

For now, he remains in Kuje’s clinic, reportedly reading legal briefs and drafting petitions between doses of painkillers, because, as one associate put it, “You can’t silence a lawyer with a neck brace.

DDM will continue to monitor this developing story as questions mount over the safety of legal practitioners, the accountability of security agencies, and the alarming trend of courtroom brutality in Nigeria’s democracy.
