NNPC GMD—Kyari Recommissions NNPC Ilorin Depot

The Group Managing Director [GMD] of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC], Mallam Mele Kyari, on Saturday, recommissioned the NNPC Depot in Ilorin.

In attendance at the event is the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Speaking at the occasion, GMD Kyari expressed NNPC’s readiness to align with the key priorities areas.

He stressed that as the main enabler of the Nigerian economy, NNPC would work with other agencies of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Nigeria to realise the outlined aspirations.

Kyari further noted that the coming of Chief Timipreye Sylva as the Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources promised to engender high level Inter agencies-collaboration across all tiers of the sector.

Dignitaries at the occasion including NNPC GMD Mele Kyari and  Kwara State Governor Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman 

On his part, the Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman said on his Twitter handle:

“I am happy to be here at the recommissioning of NNPC depot in Oke Oyi, Ilorin.

“The revival of the depot will bring comfort and ease petrol distribution in Kwara state and its environs.”

In another development, the Petroleum Resources Minister, Chief Sylva held Next Level Strategic Retreat for the Ministry’s Heads of Agencies and Directors in Lagos, yesterday.

Speaking at the occasion, the Petroleum Resources Minister identified key priority areas for the Ministry to include:

  • Implementation of the reduction of Federal Government’s equity stakes in JV participation to 40%
  • Curbing petroleum products cross-border leakages, Completion of gas flare commercialisation,
  • Increasing crude oil production to 3 million barrels per day and,
  • Effecting reduction in cost of crude oil production by at least 5 per cent.

Other priority areas Chief Sylva itemised included:

  • Aggressive promotion of passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB);
  • Promotion of inland basin exploration activities;
  • Promotion of deep offshore exploration activities;
  • Collaboration with private sector to aggressively increase domestic refining capacity and Working assiduously to support Mr. President in his poise to achieving the target of raising millions of Nigerians out of poverty via job creation.

The minister told heads of the agencies that they would be required to collectively sign an undertaking to deliver on the set tasks and targets as they must execute the mandate with all the seriousness it deserves.
