NNPC Raises Alarm Over Recruitment Scam, Warns Applicants

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC] has raised alarm over an ongoing recruitment scam perpetrated by some fraudsters.

The Corporation stated that “some fraudulent persons [are] using various dubious means ranging from text messages, social media platforms and forged letters to invite unsuspecting members of the public for job interviews to invite unsuspecting members of the public for job interviews in a purported recruitment exercise by the Corporation.”

This was contained in a statement issued by the Petroleum Corporation in Abuja and made available to Elombah.com.

In to the statement, NNPC warned categorically that it is “not recruiting and won’t demand payment in any form for any job placement”.

NNPC promised to “advertise all vacant positions whenever it is ready to embark on a recruitment exercise.”

It, therefore, warned “that anyone who entertains such invitations or deals with peddlers of such invitations does so at his or her own risk.”

The attention of NNPC Group has been drawn to the activities of some fraudulent persons using various dubious means ranging from text messages, social media platforms and forged letters to invite unsuspecting members of the public for job interviews to invite unsuspecting members of the public for job interviews in a purported recruitment exercise by the Corporation.

For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state:

a) That NNPC is currently not recruiting and won’t demand payment in any form for any job placement.

b) That NNPC will advertise all vacant positions whenever it is ready to embark on a recruitment exercise.

c) That members of the public, particularly unsuspecting applicants, should be wary of fraudulent invitations for job interviews at the NNPC Towers, Abuja, or indeed any of its offices or subsidiaries.

d) That anyone who entertains such invitations or deals with peddlers of such invitations does so at his or her own risk.

e) That anyone contacted for the purpose of the purported recruitment other than through advertisement duly placed by the Corporation in national newspapers, should not hesitate to report such invitations to relevant law enforcement agencies.
