The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has officially nullified the purported suspension of its Kano State Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, describing the action as illegitimate and without basis.

In a statement released on Monday, party officials emphasized that the decision to suspend Dungurawa was neither sanctioned by the NWC nor in line with party regulations.

DDM gathered that the NWC reaffirmed its confidence in Dungurawa, highlighting his contributions to party growth and grassroots mobilization in Kano State.

“The purported suspension is null and void. Hashimu Dungurawa remains the recognized chairman of the NNPP in Kano State, and any contrary action lacks authority,” the statement read.

Sources within the party revealed that the suspension attempt was initiated by a faction that sought to challenge Dungurawa’s leadership, but the NWC swiftly intervened to protect internal democracy and maintain party cohesion.

Party members expressed relief that the leadership upheld procedural correctness, emphasizing that disputes must be resolved within established frameworks rather than through unilateral announcements.

The NWC called on all members in Kano State to continue supporting Dungurawa’s leadership and focus on strengthening the party ahead of upcoming political contests.

Observers noted that the swift intervention by the NWC reflects the party’s commitment to internal discipline and the rule of law, sending a clear message against factionalism.

Dissident elements were warned against further attempts to undermine the party’s structure, with assurances that the NWC would take decisive action to prevent destabilization.

The Kano State chapter has since resumed normal operations, with Dungurawa actively engaging stakeholders, coordinating party activities, and preparing for strategic campaigns.

Political analysts say the resolution enhances the NNPP’s image as a party that prioritizes accountability, unity, and respect for its constitution over personal ambitions.

Members and supporters are now expected to channel their energy toward mobilizing grassroots networks, expanding membership, and ensuring that the party presents a strong front in future elections.

This development marks a significant reaffirmation of centralized authority within the NNPP, ensuring that elected or appointed officials cannot be removed arbitrarily without proper procedural processes.

The party’s Kano leadership has pledged to work closely with the NWC to consolidate gains and maintain the trust of its supporters across the state.

With internal matters settled, the NNPP aims to focus on political engagement and community outreach as it positions itself strategically for the 2027 general elections.
