Obi breaks silence

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, has ruled out joining any opposition coalition for 2027.

He made this known while addressing young supporters in a viral video recorded by a television station.

Obi stated clearly that he would remain in the Labour Party and contest the 2027 presidential election on its platform.

He assured his supporters that he was not considering leaving the party for any coalition group.

> “I will still continue to run in the Labour Party. I’m a member of the Labour Party,” Obi declared.

The video was shared across LP’s WhatsApp platforms and has since stirred reactions among party loyalists nationwide.

Obi emphasised that his political journey would continue within the Labour Party despite talks of forming a broader alliance.

He dismissed speculations that he might team up with other opposition parties to confront the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obi said he remains committed to the ideals and structure of the Labour Party ahead of the next general election.

Blames FG for Crises in Labour, PDP

Peter Obi also accused the federal government of fuelling crises within major opposition parties, especially Labour and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He claimed that the internal wrangling in both parties was not natural but a calculated plot by external forces.

Obi said those behind the troubles were out to destabilise and weaken the opposition before the 2027 elections.

He noted that such tactics were meant to silence alternative voices and deny Nigerians a credible choice.

The former Anambra State governor said the federal government was sponsoring confusion to break the unity of opposition parties.

He described the situation as deliberate and harmful to the country’s democratic process.

Obi urged party members not to be distracted by the internal issues, which he described as “engineered”.

He said opposition politicians must remain focused and determined to provide alternative leadership for Nigerians.

Obi Sticks With Labour Party

Despite ongoing talks about opposition unity, Obi said he would not abandon the Labour Party for any alliance.

He said political players must be consistent and committed to building strong parties, not jumping around.

Obi’s stance comes amid growing speculation about a possible merger among PDP, LP, and other opposition forces.

However, his message is clear — he is staying put in Labour Party and will run again in 2027.

The political atmosphere is already gathering momentum as parties begin early preparations for the next general elections.
