Opeyemi Famakin has ignited controversy with a bold claim about his scent superiority.

He declared no man in Lagos smells better than he does, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.

Famakin, a well-known food critic, boasted about his expensive collection of perfumes.

According to him, only people in Abuja and Kano might rival his fragrance.

He shared a video displaying his luxurious perfume collection worth millions of naira.

In the caption, he dared others to show their collections and tag him.

The caption read: “No Man In Lagos Smells Better Than Me. Tag me, let’s have fun.”

This bold statement came after skit maker Mr. Macaroni also flaunted his perfumes.

Mr. Macaroni shared his collection, saying he wouldn’t reveal all his “scent secrets.”

His post received wide attention and quickly turned into an unspoken fragrance challenge.

Writer Solomon Buchi reacted, raising concerns about the message this might send.

He warned about the pressure such content could put on young Nigerians.

Buchi noted that people might start comparing themselves to unrealistic social media portrayals.

He emphasized prioritising needs over wants in a time of rising economic hardship.

Refusing to buy luxury items, he said, doesn’t mean someone is broke.

Despite the warnings, fans continued engaging in the viral perfume conversation.

User @ihemenancy said he spends heavily on perfume and hair care.

Another, @mide_gifts_surprise001, was shocked by a single perfume costing ₦3.5 million.

Some joked about the price, while others challenged Famakin’s claim.

@cubana_whitelion commented, “Hype yourself, my brother. Nobody will hype you if you don’t.”

@naturally_chubby_ wondered if God even notices her on the “blessing line.”

@shayor__, a woman, promised to share her collection of men’s perfumes with Famakin.
