Here is the full statement:
A crucial safety meeting was held this morning to assess the weather and travel conditions for today’s highly anticipated Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, the match is currently planned to go ahead as scheduled, with every effort being made to ensure the game proceeds as normal.
However, a further safety meeting has been scheduled for midday to reassess the latest conditions and determine the feasibility of holding the match.
The Safety Advisory Group of Liverpool City Council will make the final decision, prioritizing supporter welfare and safety above all else.
The match, set to kick off at 16:30 GMT, has been thrown into uncertainty due to heavy snowfall across the UK, with amber weather warnings in place for much of England.
The disruption has already caused the closure of runways at Manchester and Liverpool John Lennon airports, as well as disruptions to train services.
Liverpool FC has urged supporters to exercise extra caution and to stay tuned for updates on the match status. Fans can expect a decision soon, and the club will provide timely updates through their official channels.
Diaspora Digital Media had reported earlier that the match was at the risk of postponement.
