Nollywood actress and activist, Chioma Grace Ifemeludike, has formally declared her bid to contest the Anambra State governorship election under the African Action Congress (AAC).
Ifemeludike made the announcement on Tuesday via her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, confirming herself as the AAC flag bearer for the upcoming November 8, 2025, election.
In her post, the actress wrote, “I am the flag bearer of the African Action Congress (AAC), and I’m proud to say I’m the best candidate in the November 8 Anambra gubernatorial election. The lighthouse is about to be lit.”
Her declaration quickly gained traction across social media, sparking conversations about celebrity participation in Nigerian politics. The actress joins a growing list of entertainers transitioning from the big screen to the political stage in hopes of driving change.
Although she has not unveiled her campaign manifesto or running mate, her message of hope and renewal suggests a focus on transparency, youth empowerment, and ethical leadership.
Ifemeludike, known for her outspoken views on national issues, gender rights, and political accountability, has consistently used her platform to advocate for better governance in Nigeria. Her decision to contest under AAC aligns with the party’s reformist ideology and commitment to youth inclusion in politics.
Founded by activist Omoyele Sowore in 2018, the African Action Congress promotes progressive governance, social justice, and technological innovation in public administration. Political observers believe Ifemeludike’s emergence could attract a younger, more politically active demographic in Anambra.
Her slogan, “The lighthouse is about to be lit,” appears to symbolize a new dawn for leadership and hope for citizens seeking transformation in the state. Supporters have praised her courage, describing her candidacy as a refreshing alternative in a political field dominated by career politicians.
The 2025 Anambra governorship election, scheduled for Saturday, November 8, is expected to be fiercely contested as major parties, including the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Labour Party (LP), prepare to field their candidates.
Governor Charles Soludo of APGA currently holds the seat, but political analysts say Ifemeludike’s entry has added an interesting twist to the race.
As campaigns gather pace, all eyes are now on the Nollywood actress turned politician, whose message of change and integrity could resonate strongly with Anambra’s youth-driven electorate.
