NPFL: Abdallah parts ways with Kano Pillars
DDM News

Kano Pillars Football Club has officially announced the resignation of its Technical Adviser, Usman Abdallah, with immediate effect.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the departure was confirmed in a statement by the club, which cited personal reasons and the emergence of a significant opportunity as the factors behind the coach’s decision.
According to the club, Abdallah informed the management of his intent to step down after realizing the new opportunity would conflict with his duties at Kano Pillars.
Following a series of discussions, both parties agreed it was in the club’s best interest that he vacates the position to allow for uninterrupted progress.
Abdallah, who took over just weeks before the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season began, led the team, popularly known as Sai Masu Gida, to a commendable 9th-place finish.
Under his leadership, the team secured 53 points from 38 matches, marking a six-point improvement from the previous campaign.
In an emotional audio message to fans, Abdallah expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the club and reflected on the difficult decision to leave.
“Due to something important that has come my way, I have decided to step down as Technical Adviser of this great club,” he stated.
He added, “I had earlier informed the Chairman of this development, and we mutually agreed that it is best I step aside so the club can appoint someone who can fully commit to driving the team forward.”
Though stepping down, Abdallah pledged continued support for the club and promised to offer advice whenever needed.
“This club is our pride, and I am always willing to contribute to its success in any way possible,” he said.
Abdallah also extended his appreciation to the management and fans, describing their unwavering support as a major motivation during his tenure.
“What I will miss the most are the fans. Their passion, resilience, and unwavering support were the biggest reasons I accepted the role. Thank you for everything,” he concluded.
Kano Pillars Chairman, Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar, also expressed deep appreciation for Abdallah’s professionalism and commitment during his time at the club.
He acknowledged Abdallah’s contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors, reaffirming the club’s respect for his decision.
The club now begins the search for a new technical adviser to lead the team into the next phase of the NPFL campaign.
The sudden resignation comes at a pivotal time as the club prepares to build on the progress made during the past season.
Fans have taken to social media to thank Abdallah and express concern over who will fill the technical vacuum left behind.
Kano Pillars remains one of Nigeria’s most storied football clubs, with a strong following and a reputation for nurturing talent and competing fiercely in the league.
As the search begins for a new head coach, stakeholders are hoping for a seamless transition that will preserve the gains of Abdallah’s tenure.
