NPFL fines Nasarawa united ₦6 Million, relocates matches

In a strong response to misconduct, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has imposed a ₦6 million fine on Nasarawa United and relocated their home matches to Pantami Stadium in Gombe State.

This decision follows a severe security failure during a recent game, where Plateau United’s Vincent Temitope was violently attacked.

According to an official NPFL statement on April 14, 2025, the league cited multiple violations by Nasarawa United. Specifically, the club failed to secure restricted areas, allowing unauthorized persons to assault Plateau United players and match officials. The incident escalated when home supporters attacked Temitope, leaving him with neck injuries.

Consequently, the NPFL issued a ₦1 million fine for inadequate security and another ₦1 million for poor crowd control. Additionally, the club must pay ₦3 million for repeated rule violations and ₦1 million for Temitope’s medical bills. The league emphasized that such misconduct threatens player safety and league integrity.

By moving Nasarawa United’s matches to Gombe, the NPFL aims to enforce accountability and prevent future breaches. This penalty serves as a warning to all clubs to prioritize security and discipline. The league remains committed to maintaining a safe and fair football environment.

Now, Nasarawa United must adapt to their new venue while working to restore their reputation.
