The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bauchi State Command arrested 10 suspects for vandalism, rape, and theft during the Yuletide period.
State Commandant of NSCDC Mr. Oloyede Oyerinde announced this on Wednesday in Bauchi while parading the suspects.
On December 24, authorities arrested seven suspects in Zaranda village, Toro Local Government Area, for vandalizing the old Nitel tower.
Items recovered from the suspects included six oxyacetylene gas cylinders, perimeter fencing wire mesh, and parts of the vandalized tower.
Two additional suspects stole two drums and were arrested on December 31 at a filling station in Turum, Bauchi.
On December 27, police apprehended a suspect accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in a Misau building site.
The commandant praised his personnel for their dedication to protecting public infrastructure and warned criminals of severe consequences.
He also urged the public to provide crucial information to aid in combating vandalism and other crimes statewide.
