NSCDC trains officers to secure schools in FCT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps recently NSCDC completed a two-day intensive training program to enhance school security across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Commandant Olusola Odumosu led the initiative, which equipped officers with advanced strategies to counter emerging threats in educational institutions.
During the closing ceremony, Odumosu emphasized the critical need for proactive security measures in schools.
“You must demonstrate unwavering commitment to protecting students and learning environments,” he told participants.
The training specifically targeted NSCDC FCT Area Commanders and Divisional Officers responsible for implementing the Safe School Programme.
Furthermore, the Commandant stressed the importance of maintaining constant surveillance around school premises.
He directed officers to conduct regular patrols while building trust-based relationships with school administrators.
Such collaboration, he noted, would boost community confidence in security efforts.
Additionally, Odumosu mandated comprehensive data collection on all FCT schools to improve strategic planning.
“Accurate statistics will ensure complete coverage and more effective protection,” he explained.
The initiative reflects NSCDC’s broader commitment to safeguarding educational facilities nationwide.
Meanwhile, officers pledged to apply their enhanced skills diligently. As the lead agency for school security, the NSCDC continues prioritizing student safety through such capacity-building programs.
The training ultimately aims to create safer learning environments where children can thrive without security concerns.
Through these efforts, the NSCDC reinforces its dedication to excellence in protecting Nigeria’s educational sector.
The Command remains focused on preventing threats while fostering productive partnerships with school communities across the capital territory.
