NYSC Group Deworm 1000 Women, Children in Calabar Community

No fewer than one Thousand inhabitants of Adiabo Community in Odukpani Local‎ government Area of Cross River State ,where the Obong of Calabar comes from have been deworm by the medical and health Care group of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The intervention by the NYSC group was part of their Community Development Services (CDS) in line with the mandate of the service scheme.

Aside the deworming exercise, ‎the group also distributed anti-malaria drugs, Cough syrup, insecticide Treated Net, alongside several tests on sugar level, hypertension among others worth Millions of Naira.

Speaking during the event, the president of the group, Solomon Oko-Oboh and organizing secretary ‎, Annabel Anthony said “We decided to rendered selfless services to our fatherland because the intention of the founding fathers was to unify the country through selfless services.

“When we were thinking of where to touch lives and which community to go, after careful selection, the choice of Adiabo comes to our mind because we gathered several others before us have tried to do it but due to the nature of the small but populated community, they were unable to do it, so we took it upon ourselves and we set the ball rolling.

Today, we give thanks to God, the NYSC, our supporter Mr Alfred Mrakpor who gave us the needed support and fighting spirit to deliver good and quality health care services to the women, children and even men of the Obong Community, Adiabo.

“That we did this intervention in the Village where Obong of Calabar comes from will forever remain in the history of Efiks, Calabar and Cross River State, that some group of ordinary Corps  ‎members came to the community to rendered selfless Services,” the group leaders said.

The representative of Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu the fifth, Etubom Edet-Edet said the community  has never have it so good from serving ‎corps members intervention in their domain .He prayed God to guide and protect the good thought of the young corpers.

“I greet you on behalf of the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu that God will bless you all for your good gestures to our community,” he said.

Cross River State coordinator of NYSC represented by Mrs Cecelia Essien and the sponsor of the NYSC Group, Alfred Mrakpor said the corps members have written their name in the sound of history by identify the real people who needed services and given to them.

They urged other corps members coming behind to emulate the good gestures of the group.
