The Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] candidate in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election, Mr Oseloka H. Obaze [OHO] has pledged 26% of the state budget to education when he becomes the governor of the state.

With that war chest, he promised to declare free education for pupils of primary school, up till junior secondary school [JSS] level.

Speaking through his media aide, Mr Chima Christian, he said that “the incumbent [Governor Willie Obiano] devotes a paltry 2.97% of its budget to education”.

He, however, promised that he will raise the bar to 26 percent as recommended by UNICEF.

Speaking further, he said: “Nobody in Anambra State today has seen the details of Obiano’s Anambra 2017 budget.

“We continue to encourage citizens to demand that the incumbent releases the details of that document.

“We have made public commitments to publishing details of our budget (in a downloadable pdf format) and contracts awarded because we believe that government activities shouldn’t be shrouded in secrecy

“Finally, ndị Anambra are clearly seeing the difference between a government that lies unapologetically to them and a team that is committed to telling it as it is.

“Come #November18, we in the PDP, and the candidates of other parties, including whoever becomes the authentic candidate of APGA, will submit ourselves to the wishes of ndị Anambra.

“We continue to sue that the process is rancor free,” he concluded.

In another development, Mr Obaze was at Afor Nnobi market where he took his message to the grassroots and market women.

He assured them his government will take into cognizance the plight of the average  citizen and undo the damages of the present government which has heartlessly hiked shop levies to N13,000 from the original N1,000.
