Mr. Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has said that Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, won the 2023 presidential election.
He said this during an interview on Channels Television on Monday.
Lawal, who has been a strong critic of the APC administration, said: “Based on the facts available to me, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party won the election that produced Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s 16th president.”
He insisted: “The result available to me at that time showed Tinubu didn’t win the election.”
While addressing Tinubu directly, Lawal said: “The problem with Bola Tinubu is that he thinks I’m the one that offended him.
“I didn’t offend him, he offended me and he is full of himself, and he thinks that he now so-called president…I believe he didn’t win the election.”
Lawal further justified his claim by explaining that they monitored the election closely, collected data, and observed results in the field, which he alleges were manipulated.
“Some of the results were altered,” he said.
“We were on the ground, we observed, and the data did not match the official outcomes.”
When asked about Tinubu’s offence against him, Lawal described the president’s attitude, saying: “He is arrogant. The guy has an arrogance that belies definitions.”
He added: “His behavior shows a lack of humility expected of a president.”
