Obiano 2017? Forget It! Anambra Deserves Better ― Obunike Ohaegbu

The immediate past Commissioner of Public Complaints Commission [PCC], FCT Abuja chapter, and current Secretary to Anambra Union, Honourable Obunike Ohaegbu has expressly declared the Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano as a disappointment to Ndi Anambra.

Mr. Ohaegbu stated this during a chat with Elombah.com at his Abuja home on Friday.

Speaking, Ohaegbu recounted series of events wherein Chief Obiano failed woefully and concluded that Ndi Anambra deserves better.

Recently, Mr. Ohaegbu had chided former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN], Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, over his rant that there is no vacancy in Anambra Government House come November.

As the Secretary of the Anambra Union, he said that “Prof. Soludo’s position is on all fours with that of Anambra Union.”

Speaking, he said: “I do not understand the views he [Soludo] expressed on the Anambra State economy under Obiano.

“Although, I am not an economist but I know that under Obiano, the Nnewi South LGA has received over N3b from the Federation account.

“I cannot point at anything the State government has done with that huge sum in Ukpor, the headquarters of the Local government.

“As at today, there is no local government system in Anambra State.  We have neither elected officials in charge of our LGs nor even appointed ones.

“As at today, the civil servant in charge of Nnewi South is not even from our Federal Constituency.

“This is purely unacceptable especially from a supposedly democratically elected governor of the State. It is IMPUNITY.  I believe we deserve better.”

During the Friday interview, Ohaegbu pointed out that the economy of Anambra State has dwindled under Obiano.

He also lamented the dilapidated state of abandoned projects which has littered the whole state.

He further noted that Obiano deviated from his pledge to his predecessor, Mr. Peter Obi, vis-à-vis continuity, and completion of started projects.

Personal or ill-feelings aside, Mr. Ohaegbu stated that Anambra Union has decided to sideline Obiano in the forthcoming election.

He said their decision is premised on the fact that basically, his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA] is more or less a local party which has neither nationwide, nor federal representation.

He declared that the Union will support any candidate from either of the two mainstream parties, i.e. the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] of the ruling All Progressives Congress [APC].

This, according to him, is to enable Anambra State key in to political and economic activities at the federal level.

The former Commissioner also spoke on other issues affecting his party, the PDP, the welfare of the Igbos under the ruling APC government, et al.
