Obiano Sets To Probe PDP Chair Over Barnabas Igwe, Wife’s Murder
The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano is has is set to enter into a dirty brawl with the chairman of the Anambra State chairman Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Prince Ken Emeakayi, as the November 18 governorship election approaches.
Elombah.com gathered, courtesy of our correspondent, Mr. Eneh Victor Chigozie, that Obiano has concluded plans to probe the state PDP chairman over the murder of one Mr. Barnabas Igwe and his wife who were brutally murdered under Governor Mbadinuju’s administration.
In a telephone conversation with Elombah.com on Tuesday, Prince Emeakayi has equally accepted the challenge for a commission of enquiry into the murder of Igwe.
To express his readiness further, Emeakayi demanded for an open trial as well as expansion of terms of reference of the commission.
He also demanded further probe and unmasking of the sponsors of Aguleri-Umuleri war, as well as the unmasking of the cause of death of Ozo Nwabueze Okafor, Okpochengene.
Recall that Elombah.com recently reported that Emeakayi raised alarm over a perceived intention of Governor Obiano to kill him.
The PDP chairman raised alarm following a in a telephone conversation on Thursday, February 23, 2017 with the governor.
Therein the latter threatened to kill him were he to stand between him and his ambition for a second tenure according to him.
In his words, “Willie said, he will make me to feel “the wrath of Aguleri”. His aides are also after me.”
Hon Emeakayi, in a letter he addressed to the governor dated March 6, 2017, therefore, queried Obiano on why he threatened to kill him and show him “the wrath of Aguleri”
The PDP state chairman asked why he should be killed for asking the state Assembly to investigate his numerous constitutional abuses.
To register his aversion to threats, he lodged an official complaint with the state Department of State Security [DSS] and tasked the official to pursue justice to the letter.
Thereafter, on Monday March 20, he invited the media, both print, electronic and social media, to accompany him to the office of the state commissioner of Police and that of the Director of DSS Awka.
His sole purpose was to ask these security agencies why no investigation, nor enquiry, had been instituted over his petition against Governor Obiano.
Following the hoopla that attended the petition, the DSS in Anambra State commenced investigation into the alleged threat to life of Prince Ken Emeakayi by Obiano.
Whichever the case, the unveiling of the mystery behind the gruesome murder of Igwe Barnabas and his wife, including their unborn child, is long overdue.
Anambrarians are eager to see the drama unfold!
Anambrarians might also be treated with the eventual unmasking of the real cause of death of Ozo Okpochengene, the late All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA] National Chairman.
Ozo Okpochengene died shortly after the erstwhile chairman of APGA, Ozo Victor Oye was deposed and Okpochengene replaced him.
Ken Emeakayi demanded that these and more be included in the terms of reference of the judicial commission of enquiry likely to be set up by the state government to probe his alleged involvement in the murder of Igwe and his wife.
The PDP Chairman was reacting to the 21 days ultimatum given to the state government by the United Anambra Youth Association, U-AYA led by Chinedu Obidigwe the powerful SA to the governor on political matters.
U-AYA had in a press conference over the week called on the state government to open an enquiry to probe Emeakayi on the murder of Igwe.
Reacting to their call, through a letter addressed to the governor, dated May 22, 2017 Prince Emeakayi said he welcomed the probe and investigations into the murder of Igwe.
He, however, demanded that investigations should also be launched to ascertain who sponsored the Aguleri-Umuleri war where hundreds were killed, the death of Ozo Okpochengene, among others.
