Mass Defection Hits Enugu: Obidients Flock to ADC
DDM News

Enugu, Nigeria – A fresh wave of political realignment has struck the Enugu North Senatorial Zone as members of the Labour Party (LP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The development was confirmed during a press briefing held on Thursday at the Enugu State ADC party office.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the meeting marked a significant moment for the COPDEM-ADC family, as they continue to strengthen grassroots political engagement across Enugu State.
Hon. Prince Kingsley Acharabagu, who serves as the Enugu State Director of Mobilization and Civil Society Organizations for COPDEM-ADC, warmly received the defectors.
He also doubles as the Zonal Coordinator for Enugu North ADC, a strategic role in galvanizing support for the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Addressing journalists, Hon. Acharabagu described the defections as a powerful sign of political awakening and a growing desire among Nigerians for real change.
He welcomed the new members with joy, commending their courage to abandon the familiar for a future anchored in national redemption.
According to him, the African Democratic Congress remains a credible force platform for all well-meaning Nigerians seeking a people-driven political alternative.
Hon. Acharabagu encouraged the new members to remain steadfast and focused on the shared goal of rebuilding Nigeria.
He reiterated that the political revolution symbolized by Peter Obi during the 2023 general elections is far from over.
Instead, he said, it is evolving into a broader grassroots movement that transcends ethnicity, religion, and former political affiliations.
“We are not just building a party; we are birthing a new Nigeria,” Acharabagu said.
He also emphasized that Peter Obi’s message of competence, character, and capacity continues to resonate across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
During the meeting, a special prayer was offered for national renewal and good governance, with members invoking divine support for a new Nigeria driven by hope and unity.
Acharabagu used the opportunity to call on more Nigerians, especially those in Enugu North, to join the ADC and COPDEM family.
He urged constituents of the Igbo-Etiti/Uzo Uwani Federal Constituency to obtain their membership cards through the designated coordinators.
He listed himself, Hon. Prince Kingsley Acharabagu, as one of the registration points and also named Rotarian Michael Utazi for Uzo Uwani as a contact person for further mobilization.
Prospective members in the area were encouraged to reach out via +234 806 500 0971 (Prince Kingsley) or +234 701 857 4167 (Rotr. Utazi).
The ADC’s growing appeal in Enugu North signals an emerging political shift as more Nigerians become disillusioned with both the ruling and opposition parties.
Political observers believe that movements like COPDEM could shape the next electoral cycle by channeling the energy of disenchanted voters into structured political action.
With the renewed push in Enugu North, the ADC and its Peter Obi-aligned supporters appear poised to deepen their foothold across the Southeast.
Hon. Acharabagu concluded by encouraging the new members to serve as political evangelists for change and to never relent until Nigeria becomes the nation of their dreams.
