In a strategic move to strengthen the Obidients movement and secure Peter Obi’s victory in 2027, the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has officially aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According Diaspora digital media (DDM) this decision comes as part of a broader plan to expand the political influence of Obidients across Nigeria, ensuring that Peter Obi has the strongest possible platform to contest and win the presidency.

COPDEM leaders emphasized that the alliance with ADC is a calculated step to complement the efforts of Obidients who are working tirelessly for good governance and political reform.

“Our goal remains the same—to see Peter Obi elected in 2027,” COPDEM stated. “This alliance provides another strong platform for Obidients to mobilize and consolidate political support.”

Why ADC?

The ADC has built a reputation as a democratic and transparent party that values inclusivity, integrity, and people-centered leadership.

Unlike many traditional parties, ADC has remained independent of political godfathers and has consistently provided opportunities for young, competent leaders.

COPDEM’s decision to work with ADC is based on its strong grassroots presence and alignment with the vision of Peter Obi and the broader Obidient movement.

According to COPDEM, ADC was chosen for the following reasons:

  1. Nationwide structure – ADC has active political structures across all states, making it a valuable platform for Obidients to engage and mobilize.
  2. Shared vision – The party advocates for economic development, fiscal responsibility, and accountable governance—principles that Obidients support.
  3. Independence from political elites – Unlike APC and PDP, ADC is not controlled by entrenched interests and remains open to progressive-minded individuals.
  4. Commitment to electoral reform – ADC has consistently pushed for credible elections, aligning with Obidients’ call for transparency in Nigeria’s democracy.

While some Obidients remain focused on Labour Party (LP), COPDEM insists that relying on a single party could be risky.

Given the internal challenges within LP, it is essential for Obidients to explore alternative political structures that can support Peter Obi’s ambition in 2027.

ADC’s alignment with Peter Obi’s vision

ADC has long advocated for the same policies that Peter Obi and the Obidient movement promote, including:

  • Good governance and accountability – Ensuring public funds are used efficiently and transparently.
  • Human capital development – Investing in education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.
  • Youth and women empowerment – Providing opportunities for young people and women to lead.
  • Fiscal responsibility – Reducing wasteful government spending and promoting sustainable economic policies.
  • Security and stability – Strengthening national security through intelligence-driven strategies.

With these priorities, ADC presents a natural fit for Obidients looking to expand their influence beyond Labour Party.

A strong political platform for Obidients

COPDEM assured supporters that its commitment to the Obidient movement remains firm and that the alliance with ADC does not signify a breakaway.

“Obidients must be strategic in securing victory in 2027,” COPDEM stated. “We cannot afford to limit ourselves to one party. We must use every available platform to drive our mission forward.”

The group emphasized that ADC has a track record of attracting credible individuals with integrity, making it a suitable party for Obidients to support.

Unlike APC and PDP, which rely on money politics, ADC has consistently promoted professionals, technocrats, and reform-driven politicians.

The road to 2027: A call for Obidients’ unity

As the 2027 election approaches, COPDEM urged all Obidients to remain focused and united, regardless of political party affiliation.

“This movement is not about Labour Party or ADC—it is about Nigeria’s future,” COPDEM declared. “We must work together to ensure Peter Obi’s victory.”

Obidients across the country are encouraged to embrace this strategic alliance and take advantage of every political opportunity to mobilize for 2027.

With the COPDEM-ADC partnership, the Obidient movement is now better positioned to challenge the political status quo and secure a government that prioritizes good governance, economic development, and social justice.
