ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA – Obodoeze Ocho has extended warm Eid-el-Adha greetings to Muslim faithful, calling for stronger unity, religious tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians during the sacred celebration.
The message was delivered as Muslims across Nigeria and different parts of the world marked Eid-el-Adha, one of Islam’s most significant religious festivals celebrated in remembrance of sacrifice, faith, and obedience.
Obodoeze Ocho used the occasion to urge citizens to look beyond differences in religion, ethnicity, and political affiliation and focus on shared values capable of promoting societal progress and national development.
He emphasized that the celebration should not only be a period of joy and festivity but also a time for reflection on the ideals of compassion, sacrifice, peace, and mutual understanding among people from different backgrounds.
According to him, diversity in religious beliefs should never become a source of division but rather an opportunity to strengthen relationships and build a stronger society rooted in respect and unity.
He noted that unity remains essential at a time when Nigeria continues to face different economic and social challenges that require collective efforts and cooperation among citizens.
The governorship candidate stressed that people of different faiths can coexist peacefully while pursuing common goals that benefit communities and the nation as a whole.
Speaking further in Enugu, he encouraged Nigerians to renew their commitment to religious freedom and national unity, stressing that the country’s strength lies in its rich diversity and its ability to accommodate different cultures and beliefs.
He stated that peace and security can only thrive where understanding, tolerance, and respect for one another exist.
Obodoeze Ocho also highlighted the importance of brotherhood and peaceful coexistence in sustaining harmony across communities, particularly in a multi-ethnic and multi-religious society like Nigeria.
He urged leaders at all levels to continue promoting values capable of strengthening national integration and reducing social divisions.
The ADC governorship candidate further expressed hope that Enugu State would continue to stand as a symbol of peaceful coexistence where people from different religious and cultural backgrounds can live and work together in harmony.
He said sustaining unity and social stability remains a collective responsibility involving political leaders, religious groups, traditional institutions, and ordinary citizens.
The Eid-el-Adha celebration, according to him, presents another opportunity for citizens to reflect on values that encourage sacrifice, service to humanity, and compassion for others.
