Pastor Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom State has finally defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
During his defection on Friday in Uyo, the State capital, the governor was presented with a broom – the symbol of APC.
Some APC governors including Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, were present at the event.
Also in attendance were Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, and Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi.
Recall that the governor had hinted at the political shift during a recent town hall meeting in Ikot Abasi.
“It is time to move,” Eno declared. “It is time to align the state to APC at the federal level.”
He noted that the decision came after thorough consultations with political stakeholders.
