The Organizing For Opportunities (OFO) Educational Foundation has awarded 32 scholarships to 32 families at the Blessed Fr. Tansi Primary School, Amuzu in Aboh Mbaise LGA.
The scholarships, which are for all of the three terms in 2022, includes tuition, uniforms and other items.
The Founder and President of OFO Foundation, Dr. Ugorji Okechukwu Ugorji, who is also the Commissioner for Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs in Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration, made this known today in Owerri at a meeting with news men and women at Villa Gardens Hotel, Owerri, on Saturday.
The registration of the Blessed Fr. Tansi Primary School with the Imo State Ministry of Education was facilitated and funded by the OFO Foundation last year.
It was a fulfillment of a promise made to Bishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji and Sisters of the Daughters of Divine Love Convent (which runs the school).
Bishop Ugorji (no relation of Dr. Ugorji) is the Catholic Bishop of Umuahia, who also serves as the Administrative Bishop of the Ahiara Mbaise Dioceses.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Ugorji, who is a Knight of the Catholic Church, said his number one philanthropic interest is education.
“Education is the ultimate game changer in people’s lives, and early education is particularly important as a foundation for future learning,” he said.
Dr. Ugorji had recently resumed work in December, 2021, as the Commissioner of a new ministry, Ministry of Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs, tasked with streamlining and supervising all state and local security operations in Imo State.
All state security parastatals, including the Imo Security Organisation, vigilante groups, hunters groups, traffic control units, civic guards, community policing, public safety outfits now come under the new Ministry.
Also, all federal security outfits including, but not limited to, the Police, Civil Defense, DSS, NDLEA, now work in synergy and interoperability with the new ministry.
