Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has warned Nigerians against sending money to a woman soliciting ₦56 million for the bail and legal obligations of media personality Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO.
The woman, identified as Isa Amira, reportedly launched the fundraising appeal through The Isa Amira Foundation, claiming that Blessing CEO was in custody and needed financial assistance to meet the conditions attached to her bail.
According to the foundation, ₦20 million was being sought to meet bail requirements, while another ₦36 million was intended to address money owed to the people involved in the case against Blessing CEO.
However, Ogala publicly questioned the fundraising effort and urged members of the public not to send money to Amira.
Ogala said she had contacted Blessing CEO directly and that the media personality denied authorising anyone to solicit funds on her behalf.
“I just saw a video on Tunde Ednut. It’s not true. Blessing is not soliciting funds. Yes, she lost her son, but she is not soliciting funds. Don’t send any money to that lady,” Ogala said.
Blessing CEO reportedly confirmed the actress’s account, saying she was unaware of the fundraising campaign.
“I am not aware of it. I didn’t give anybody consent. I am in the best position to break that news,” Blessing reportedly said.
The controversy comes amid reports that Blessing CEO lost her second son, Bryan, while she was in custody.
Amira’s foundation had cited the death as one of the reasons for seeking assistance, claiming that Blessing wanted to leave custody so she could see her son and pay her final respects.
The foundation also claimed that the fundraising campaign had been launched with Blessing’s consent.
In a message allegedly shared between Amira and Blessing, the media personality reportedly disclosed that she had lost her son while in custody and had not been able to pay her final respects.
The conflicting accounts have since raised questions about the legitimacy and authorisation of the ₦56 million fundraising campaign.
Ogala, who is also a governorship aspirant, has therefore urged members of the public to exercise caution and avoid transferring money until the situation is clarified by Blessing herself or her authorised representatives.
Blessing CEO remains involved in fraud-related proceedings brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, with the latest controversy adding another layer to the situation surrounding her ongoing legal troubles.
For now, the actress’s warning and Blessing CEO’s reported denial directly contradict the foundation’s claim that the fundraising was authorised, leaving the public to await further clarification from the parties involved.
