Hon Marcel Amadioha enrolling into the scheme

The Executive Chairman of Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Marcel Amadioha, has officially launched the enrollment of a health insurance scheme for vulnerable citizens residing in Ohaji-Egbema LGA.

The Chairman flagged off the program on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Council Headquarters in Mmahu Egbema.

He expressed gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma, for his significant contributions to the development of affordable healthcare in the state. He noted that this exercise would mark the beginning of the end of pain and suffering for the vulnerable population.

During the ceremony, the Chairman donated Fifteen Million Naira (₦15,000,000) to kick-start the initiative and reassured residents of the government’s commitment to ensuring inclusive access to responsive, affordable, and efficient health services.

He called on wealthy individuals, corporate organizations, and politicians to support the scheme by contributing funds that would positively impact the lives and livelihoods of ordinary citizens.

“Let the strong pay for the sick, and the rich pay for the poor. The humane responsibility of any wealthy individual or corporate organization is to make healthcare affordable for the vulnerable and less privileged in society,” he emphasized. He also advised fund managers to resist any temptation to mismanage contributions.

The Chairman urged community leaders to play a significant role in promoting the initiative by taking the awareness campaign to rural communities. “We encourage our people to participate in the enrollment. We have allocated resources to the scheme and are advocating for its expansion,” he said.

Expressing his delight at the launch of the scheme in Ohaji-Egbema, the Liaison Officer of the Imo State Health Insurance Agency Mr Mbari Godwin commended both the Amadioha-led and Uzodimma-led administrations for their roles in making the scheme a reality.
